About Betsy Smith
The large fountain in the main square of Castelrotto in Northern Italy has multiple uses. Our hotel ( in the background) overlooked the square. One evening, kicking back with a glass of wine, I watched as someone threw their dog in the pool, as people walked up and took a sip from the hanging cup and locals filled their water cans for the grave yard gardens behind the church. I never took a sip but my daring husband did and as far as I can tell it didn’t hurt him.
Chris and Doug in the quarry hills outside of Cararra. These hills are filled with some huge quarries, one of which Michelangelo took much of the marble he used.
The high mountain town of Colonnata is working class with a beautfiul white marble filled church.
